Course Description: In this course, students will learn…

• Introduction: The instructor – Louis Conte, Certified Polygraph Examiner, 35 years of law enforcement and investigative experience. Completed over 1,400 Polygraphs for the federal and government agencies as well as private attorneys.
• The problem and implications of determining what is truth in the modern world. Why determining truth is important. The cost of deception for individuals and society.
• The history of Truth and Deception – From the Bible to Myths, How Truth and Deception have shaped human history.
• Early methods of determining truth or deception leading up to modern veracity detection. The development of the polygraph and modern veracity detection techniques
• What a polygraph really is, how it really works and why are polygraphs done
• How good are people at determining veracity of other people? Is there a way to determine whether someone is lying?
• The physiology of deception – Freeze, Flight, or Fight
• Micro-expressions and Micro-Statements: Watch and Listen Closely
• “Nonverbals” - Body Language – The Face I
• “Nonverbals” - Body Language – The Face II
• “Nonverbals” - Body Language – The neck, shoulders, and torso
• “Nonverbals” - Body Language – The arms, legs, and feet
• Organized Official Deception I - Lies the Government told me – Propaganda, “Nudging”, Definition Substitution, using “Science” and other types of “Authority” to lie and conceal or distort truth and other bad behavior.
• Organized Official Deception II – Censorship. “Sham Peer Review.” Failing to disclose Conflicts of Interest, etc.
• What does Truth look like and how can we use it to restore public faith.
