Course Description
In this six-lecture series, we will explore the anatomy and function of the human nervous system, building the foundation for deeper inquiry into our Mind Science Curriculum. We will begin by introducing the terminology important for navigating the anatomical layout of the nervous system, then delve into its major divisions and how they interact to allow the organism to survive and thrive in a complex environment. In addition to the structural organization of the nervous system, topics will include basic physiology of nervous tissue and the propagation of electrical signals, as well as the anatomical and physiological substrates of higher-order functions such as cognition, learning, and memory.
